Biography

Dr. Allen U. VanMy goal is to provide orthopedic and spine care to my patients.  I believe that the community may be well served because of its population growth.   In the past 8 years, I have seen and evaluated thousands of patients as well as performed numerous successful surgeries.  Surgeries that I have performed ranges from fracture care, back and neck surgeries,  carpal tunnel releases, total hip/knee replacements, sport related injuries to shoulder/knees.

I hope that my practice can offer the patients options to stay close to home and continue to get the most advanced treatment in orthopedic and spine care available.

I received my undergraduate degree at Northwestern University, obtained my medical degree from Rush Medical College in Chicago and completed my surgical internship and orthopedic residency at Rush-Pres St. Lukes Medical Center in Chicago.  I also went on to complete a fellowship training to specialize in orthopedic spine surgery at Rush-Pres St. Lukes Medical Center.

I am currently a Board Certified Orthopedic surgeon and I am on staff at Kishwaukee Community Hospital, St. Alexius Medical Center, Valley Ambulatory Surgery Center, Rochelle Community Hospital and Norwegian American Hospital.  I am currently in the process of obtaining staff privileges at Delnor Community Hospital.   I speak Spanish reasonably well and I do incorporate that with my practice.

On a more personal note, I am 40 years old.  I grew up in Chicago, and naturally I am a die-hard Cubs fan.  I am very involved with my church and enjoy working with the youth group.  My hobbies include fiddling around with cars, playing volleyball and basketball, watching sports and news, and of course, spending time with my 2 daughters Kennedy and Madison.  I enjoy eating Italian dishes, when I can.

I really like working with people and enjoy how much I can help them to get better when dealing with orthopedic problems.  I feel that orthopedic is a field in medicine that can offer a lot to patients when it comes to getting their quality of life back.  I am blessed to be able to to do what I do, and in my heart I truly want to give back to others.  I cannot imagine doing anything else.
